TEAM DR. JOHN FRIESEN Dr. Friesen, born and raised in Morden, already knows new patients being served at our practice. And if he doesn't, he usually knows at least one family member. He attended the high school here in town and went on to receive Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tabor College, Kansas. Dr. Friesen continued his studies in the States at the Illinois College of Optometry, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1969. Dr. Friesen is a member of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and continues to expand his understanding of pathology and eye disease at the Pacific University and the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Friesen is a past member of the Morden Town Council, as well as, the Westside Community Church Building Committee. When not at work, Dr. Friesen enjoys his two beautiful granddaughters, golfing, gardening and walking. Dr. Friesen has been in practice for the past 30 years and looks forward to many more years in his general optometric and contact lens practice. DR. EARL LAUTENSCHLAGER Dr. Earl Lautenschlager graduated with honors from Eastwood Collegiate, Kitchener, Ontario and remained in his hometown to study optometry at the University of Waterloo. Upon graduation, "Dr. Earl" and his wife, Connie, moved to Morden to join the practice of Dr. John Friesen. Dr. Lautenschlager has been active in his profession having served in various positions of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists including holding the office of President from 1987-1988. He is also a strong proponent of community involvement serving on Morden Minor Hockey Executive, Morden Health and Wellness Committee and is President of the Board of Directors, as well as, past chairman of the Morden Corn and Apple Festival. Because of his concern for his friends and the community, he donated many years of his time as a Volunteer Ambulance Attendant. Dr. Lautenschlager continues to upgrade and pursue excellence in the field of eye care by attending numerous continuing education seminars. He has completed the MAO therapeutic drug course given by Northeastern State College of Optometry and is patiently waiting for passage of the legislation allowing him to use this knowledge. Earl and Connie have been married for over 25 years and have 3 children: Joel, Jessica and Rhys. DR. CYNTHIA MAGARRELL Dr. Cynthia Stephen joined the office of Dr's. Friesen and Lautenschlager in January 2001. Dr. Stephen graduated from the school of optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1999. Since graduation she has been working in a family practice in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Stephen changed her name to Dr. Magarrell after her nuptials to Eric Magarrell in December 2001. Dr. Magarrell is a happy and enthusiastic health care provider and she enjoys working with people of all ages. She strives to ensure her patients know that she cares about people, not just about eyes. She enjoys educating both patients and the public about their vision. Dr. Magarrell is very active and loves running, biking, weight training, aerobics, hiking, rock climbing and skiing. On the quieter side she loves books, sewing and movies. Dr. Cynthia Magarrell is now enjoying her twin boys, Luke and Zachary. Dr. Magarrell's grandfather is from the Sommerset/Holland area and she looks forward to exploring her Manitoba roots. Dr. Magarrell is looking forward to meeting you soon. DR. CRYSTAL HENDERSON After graduating from Nellie McClung Collegiate in Manitou, Dr. Henderson attended the University of Manitoba where she pursued an undergraduate education in Science.  She then continued her studies at the University of Waterloo where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2002.  In addition to her standard training Dr. Henderson chose to complete a residence program at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.  As part of the team at Focal Point she is able to apply her skills in the areas of ocular disease management and pediatric eye care.  A very active person Dr. Henderson enjoys a wide variety of activities especially aquatics.
